At Joyful Journeys, we are committed to enriching the lives of nursing home residents by providing them with meaningful, uplifting experiences. Founded by Mary Hargadine, Joyful Journeys was inspired by her personal experience caring for her sister, who became nonverbal and wheelchair-bound following a massive stroke. Witnessing firsthand the limited access to engaging activities for individuals in similar situations, Mary felt called to create a program that would bring joy, purpose, and connection to those often overlooked in traditional care settings.
Our Mission We believe that every person, regardless of their physical or cognitive limitations, deserves to experience joy and fulfillment. Joyful Journeys aims to break down barriers for nursing home residents by offering programs and activities that foster connection, stimulate the senses, and create lasting memories.
Where We Are Now As a newly established 501(c)(3) organization, Joyful Journeys is beginning our journey of development. We are actively seeking funding, volunteers, and community partnerships to help us expand our reach and impact more nursing home residents. We envision a future where all residents, regardless of their mobility or communication challenges, can engage in meaningful activities and events that enhance their quality of life.
